My name is Janneke, a 25-year-old Interaction Design student. I graduated as a Spatial Designer. Now I’m in my last year of Communication and Multimedia Design at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. Currently, I’m doing a graduate internship at Hike One. During my internship, I’ll be working on my graduation project: creating a digital application that supports people to take better care of their plants, and how to motivate them to continue to do so.
Over the past few years, I’ve learned and self-taught a lot about visual design, UX design, and programming. Some of my friends call me a nerd because I don’t like getting a C+. I’m a busy bee who loves to learn new things. When I was 18 years old I started as a freelance Graphic Designer. In the meantime, I’ve planned and decorated two weddings, gave a presentation about Social Media, went to South England to learn how to screen print and now I have my own Etsy shop.
I love to go to bed early, but I stay up too late. I am obsessed with branding, illustrations and art history. Especially the Greek and Roman sculptures and architecture, the Renaissance paintings and Pop art. In most art history books we see these perfect white Greek and Roman sculptures. When in reality all of them were colored, with pretty vibrant colors. Funny huh? I don’t drink coffee, ever. I do drink chocolate milk often and could live off pizza/ pasta for the rest of my life. Among my favorite movies and series are The Lion King (classic), Focus (I once wanted to become a magician), Killing Eve (love the clothes that she wears), Westworld (is this the future?) and of course Game of Thrones (yeah, kill that character I had a connection with). When I’m not working or out socializing in the real world, you can usually find me binge-watching series, being creative, cooking, or endlessly scrolling through Pinterest.
